A black and white logo for the Union City Public Library, featuring an artistic illustration where the initials "UC" are integrated into the design. The letter "U" is formed by a detailed, classical building entryway with columns, a triangular pediment, and double doors under an arched window, with the words "UNION CITY" written above the arch. The letter "C" is formed by a thick, open book curved into a C-shape. Below the main graphic, the text reads "PUBLIC LIBRARY" in a large serif font, followed by "Serving Union City IN-OH Since 1904" underneath.

Computer and Internet Usage Policy

Union City Public Library provides seven public computers with internet access to support learning, research, communication, and everyday tasks. Computer and internet use is free. A library card is not required.

Using a public computer

Public computers are available on a first-come, first-served basis and cannot be reserved. Please be considerate of others who may be waiting to use a computer.

Library computers are shared equipment. Users may not install personal software, change system settings, interfere with security features, or use the computers or internet connection for unlawful activities. Please follow staff instructions and the library’s Patron Code of Conduct while using the computers.

Saving your work

Each public computer returns to its original state when it is rebooted. Files saved on the computer, changes to settings, and other work will be lost. Save anything you want to keep to your own portable drive or email it to yourself before ending your session. The library cannot recover work lost when a computer restarts.

Remember to sign out of email, banking, social media, and other personal accounts when you are finished. Rebooting a library computer does not sign you out of every online service or remove information you have shared with a website.

Printing

Black-and-white and color printing are available for a fee. Current prices are available from library staff. Please review your document and print settings before printing.

Help and accessibility

Library staff can help you get started and answer basic questions when available. If you need an accessibility accommodation to use a public computer or library service, please speak with a staff member.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to guide their children’s internet use and discuss appropriate online activity with them.

Following this policy

Staff may ask a user to stop an activity that violates this policy or disrupts others. Continued or serious violations may result in the loss of public computer privileges, subject to review by library management.
