Newspapers for Union City, Indiana – Ohio, and Randolph County held on Microfilm-

Union City Commercial (roll 1) – a weekly newspaper. The publication dates covered on the microfilm roll include:
January 2, 1873, January 9, January 16, January 23, January 30, February 6, February 13, February 20, March 6, and March 13, all are of 1873.

Daily Fair Times (of Union City) (roll 1) – It is clear that this publication existed for at least a year, but it is unclear if this was a weekly, monthly, or annual publication.  Here we have only three daily editions, slightly damaged in appearance on the film, and are out of sequence on the roll of microfilm as follows:
September 18, 1874; September 18, 1873; September 17, 1874.

Union City Times (roll #1) – weekly newspaper, which purchased the Union City Commercial newspaper and took over management under a new business name in mid-March of 1873.
Some editions are out of chronological sequence on the roll of microfilm as follows below, also, some editions are absent/missing.
The library’s holdings editions begin with:
April 15 – April 29, 1873;
May 6, 1873;
September 9, 1873;
September 23 – December 23, 1873;
The dates on the microfilm roll then jump backward chronologically and continue with:
March 25 – April 28, 1873;
June of 1873 is absent;
July 29, 1873;
August 5 – September 2, 1873.

Union City Times (continued from above, with roll #2 – Within the newspaper header the paper was  claimed to be, “The leading Republican newspaper of Randolph County”).
Library Holdings:
February 23, 1876 – December 31, 1920;
(Note: Roll #4,  March 29, 1884 – January 6, 1888, has some dates out of chronological sequence)
(January 1921 – December 1922 are missing)
January 3, 1923 – December 25 1929.
Note: February 23, 1876 – December 25, 1918, is a weekly publication,
January 1, 1919 (roll #25) – December 25, 1929, is a daily publication.

The Evening Times (of Union City, Indiana), is a daily publication Monday – Friday, with no weekend editions.
Library Holdings:
January 1, 1921 – December 31, 1937

The Union City Gazette (Indiana), published daily, Monday – Saturday, with no Sunday edition. In the newspaper header the publication was claimed to, “Printing the Latest Local, County, National and World Events.”
August 26, 1937 – March 30, 1939.
Note: For the month, August 1 – August 25 is missing or not published; also August 27 is missing, as is September 5, and September 6, 1937.

The Times Gazette (Union City, Indiana), this newspaper is a consolidation or merger in early April of 1939, of the Union City Gazette, and the Evening Times.
April 1, 1939 – June 29, 1968

The News-Gazette, this newspaper is printed in Winchester, Indiana. It covers Winchester, Union City, Indiana – Ohio, and took over from the Times Gazette which had been printed in Union City, Indiana.
July 1, 1968 – December 31, 2014
