Union City Public Library Reopening Safeguards and Operational Protocols**

Employee Health Screening Process

-Until further notice, all Union City Public Library employees are recommended to take their temperature at home (and maintain a personal temperature log) before reporting to work at the library.

-They will contact the Library Director by email, phone, or text to report their status if they are feeling unwell, or answer “yes” to any of the following symptoms or conditions:

Do you have fever?

Do you have a cough?

Do you have other symptoms of COVID-19?

-They will not report to work in the building if they are feeling unwell, or have any of the above symptoms.

-They will notify the Library Director and depart the building if they become ill or are feeling unwell with any of the above symptoms during the workday.

Enhanced Cleaning

Library Materials:

-Library materials will be quarantined for 72 hours when returned by a patron.

-After the quarantine period, materials will be cleaned with a CDC approved disinfectant and appropriate treatment methods, as best needed, and allowed to air dry before being returned to the shelves or requested by another customer.

Frequently Used Surfaces:

-All frequently used areas and surfaces, or workstations will be cleaned with a CDC approved disinfectant and appropriate treatment methods after each work session, use, or transaction, as best needed.

Compliance with Social Distancing

-All library employees will practice social distancing and maintain a 6 ft. distance at all time between staff (and library patrons), as best possible.

-In keeping with ADA and CDC best practices and regulations, contactless transactions will be conducted with the public and service vendors as practical and best possible on a case-by-case basis. This may include but is not limited to any services provided at the Adult and Children’s Circulation Desks, curbside pick-up or delivery service, contactless checkout, potential home delivery service, and information and reference service at the Circulation Desk or elsewhere within the library building or on library grounds. Staff may wear gloves at their own discretion at any time when assisting the public, service vendors, or other staff.

-Members of the public will practice social distancing and maintain a 6 ft. distance at all times with all non-family or immediate household member individuals while within the building, as best as possible.

-Members of the public are strongly encouraged to wear face mask protection at all times within the building.

Personal Hygiene/Ability to Wash Hands

-All library employees are required to wear face mask protection when serving the public, and otherwise by personal discretion.

-All library employees may wear gloves when handling materials.

-All library employees are required to practice frequent handwashing.
